Submission Terms

These terms explain the basic conditions for submitting a meme or related story content to Humanity's Common Ground. They are intended to support responsible educational publishing and do not replace individualized legal advice.
1. Your rights and permission
You may submit material that you created, that you have permission to use, or that you are otherwise legally permitted to submit. Do not submit copyrighted photographs, illustrations, screenshots, logos, characters, music, or writing merely because they can be found online.
I confirm that I created this meme or have permission to submit and publish it. I understand that I am responsible for ensuring that the image, text, and other materials do not violate copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
2. Permission to publish
You keep ownership of your original work. By submitting it, you give Humanity's Common Ground the non-exclusive permission described below. “Non-exclusive” means you may continue using and publishing your work elsewhere.
I grant Humanity's Common Ground a non-exclusive permission to display, edit for formatting, archive, reproduce, and publish this submission on its website, educational materials, and official social media channels. I retain ownership of my original work.
Humanity's Common Ground may make reasonable formatting, resizing, accessibility, spelling, grammar, or layout edits. Material changes to the meaning should receive editorial review.
3. Copyright, trademark, privacy, and publicity rights
Submissions must not knowingly infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights. A submission agreement does not automatically make third-party content lawful. Editors may reject, postpone, edit, or remove material when ownership or permission is unclear.
4. AI-generated or AI-assisted content
AI-assisted work may be submitted only when the submitter has the right to use it and has reviewed it for accuracy, harmful stereotypes, copied elements, and possible infringement. Do not represent AI-generated content as a photograph or statement from a real person. Editors may ask how a submission was created.
5. Community standards
Submissions should support the project's educational purpose of examining communication, reducing dehumanization, and encouraging supported common ground. Content may be rejected for harassment, threats, hateful or demeaning treatment, unlawful material, deceptive impersonation, private personal information, or content unrelated to the project's mission.
6. Editorial discretion
Submission does not guarantee publication. Humanity's Common Ground may review, edit, decline, archive, temporarily unpublish, or permanently remove a submission. The project may also correct titles, descriptions, accessibility text, links, and page formatting.
7. Privacy
A submitter's optional name and email are kept in the private content-management system and are not placed on the public page unless separate permission is obtained. The CMS records the agreement version and acceptance time. Server address and browser information are recorded only when that optional collection is enabled in the CMS configuration.
8. Takedown and correction requests
Copyright owners, submitters, and people depicted in content may request review, correction, attribution, or removal through the Humanity's Common Ground website contact channel. Include the page address, identify the material, explain the concern, and provide reliable contact information. The project may temporarily remove material while reviewing a request.
9. Changes to these terms
Future submissions may use a newer version of these terms. The CMS records the version accepted with each submission so the agreement can be audited later.
